Filip Dagerstål wants to remain at IFK Norrköping. The 29-year-old centre-back has had his contract extended for the rest of the season and is now hoping for a longer-term deal.
Dagerstål returned to the club in late March on a short-term contract that expired on July 7th. It was renewed for the remainder of the campaign on July 11th. He has found playing time as a squad player, making 13 league appearances this season, with one start.
"As I feel right now, I'm really keen to continue, but of course it's not just up to me," Dagerstål said in an interview.
He has held talks with sporting director Henrik Jurelius. "We've talked a bit loosely. In the situation I'm in now, I'm probably quite easy to negotiate with." he added, mentioning the Noel Milleskog situation as a factor.
IFK Norrköping lead the Superettan with 55 points from 25 games and are in imperious form with three wins and two draws in their last five matches. The club holds a ten-point lead at the top and is the clear favourite for promotion. Dagerstål's desire to stay is an important signal for a team looking to retain experience and depth in defence ahead of a potential Allsvenskan campaign.
The next challenge is a home fixture against GIF Sundsvall on October 11th. Dagerstål's continued role will be key during the final stages of the season.
