Norrkoping has appointed Gustafsson as new manager after Janne Andersson's departure. Gustafsson takes over on June 1 and has signed a 2.5-year contract.
Gustafsson is a 37-year-old from Skåne who previously worked as an assistant coach at AIK. He has also been the head coach at Halmstad and has experience working in Allsvenskan.
Norrkoping explored the market after Janne Andersson's departure and Gustafsson was one of several names discussed. Per Joar Hansen and Rikard Norling are reported to have been two of Gustafsson's main competitors for the job.
The appointment of Gustafsson as new manager could be a step in the right direction for Norrkoping. The team is currently in 14th place in Allsvenskan with 29 points and has a negative goal difference of 17 goals.
