IFK Norrkoping has been relegated from Allsvenskan after losing to Örgryte IS with a total score of 3-0. The match in Norrköping was a tumultuous affair and was interrupted several times. After a total delay of over two and a half hours, the referee finally blew the whistle. Örgryte IS is clear for its first season in the top division since 2009. Captain Daniel Paulson expressed great joy after the win. IFK Norrkoping failed to catch up with the deficit from the first meeting and will therefore play in Superettan next season. This comes after 15 consecutive seasons in Allsvenskan and a championship as recently as 2015. Coach Martin Falk expressed disappointment after the loss. The match itself was a fairly chanceless affair, where Örgryte could play on the result from the first meeting. Despite an offensive edge in the form of Totte Nyman and Arnór Traustason, IFK Norrkoping failed to penetrate the Göteborg team. Örgryte won the first meeting in Göteborg a week ago with 3-0, after two goals from top scorer Noah Christoffersson and one from captain Daniel Paulson. The match was interrupted several times after objects were thrown onto the pitch from a disappointed home crowd. In the 85th minute, the pitch caught fire after pyrotechnic devices were thrown onto the pitch. People could already be seen leaving the arena, despite five minutes plus stoppage time remaining in the match. IFK Norrkoping has had a chaotic season and, among other things, got rid of sports manager Magni Fannberg in early October. After Fannberg's departure from the club, the team has not won a match. The last victory came against AIK on September 22.
