IFK Norrkoping have sacked head coach Stellan Carlsson. Assistant coach Rob Clark takes over the team with immediate effect.
The announcement was made through the club's official channels. Sporting director Dennis Popperyd confirmed the decision was made with support from the club director and the board. "It is not an easy decision, but I, with the support of the club director and the board, have judged it to be the right step to create the best possible conditions for the team during the final part of the season in the fight to secure a new Allsvenskan contract," said Popperyd.
Carlsson, who was appointed ahead of the 2025 season, led the team to a fifth-place finish in his first year. He is now released from his duties for the remainder of the year but remains employed by the club until 2027. A full review of the entire operation awaits. "We will conduct a full evaluation after the final round this year. It is only then we will know more about the conditions for 2027," Popperyd added.
The change comes in the middle of a successful season for Norrkoping. The team leads Superettan with 52 points from 24 games and holds an eight-point lead over second place. Their last five matches have yielded three wins and two draws, including a 0-0 draw with Oddevold most recently.
Rob Clark's first match in charge will be the away fixture against seventh-placed Osters IF on Sunday. After that, the final evaluation awaits to clarify the club's future direction. Check the full fixtures schedule to see what comes next.
